Through his mother Princess Helen, the daughter of King Cole, Constantine was the King of Britain before he marched on Rome to become Emperor.
He was of course brought up to be a Christian, which explains why he made it the faith of the empire.
It was he who first suggested using his martyred friend St George as a shining example for the young men of Europe to emulate.
